Welcome to Hess Lake!

Welcome to Hess Lake. A place where you can boat, tube, swim, fish and make new friends. The lake has a lengthy history. Check out all the old cottage pictures under the “Yesterday Tab”. The lake residents are made up of year around folks, weekend cottage owners, and snow birds ( baby boomer retirees ). in addition, there are a number of third generation property owners. The busy time of year is from Memorial Day to Labor Day. With the peak, Fourth of July weekend. Generally, it is fairly quiet the rest of the year. There are two organizations around the lake, the Hess Lake Improvement Association (HLIA) and the Hess Lake Improvement Board (HLIB). Please see the tabs for a complete description of these organizations. The Hess Lake Party Store is located on the north shore of Hess Lake. In addition, the cities of Newaygo and Grant are located close by for your additional needs. The Newaygo Library, Muesumn, along with many restaurants and antique stores are located in downtown Newaygo.

Many people like to bike or walk around the lake. Since we don’t have sidewalks, please drive the speed limit or less and pay attention to avoid any accidents. During the summer months you may see a police radar vehicle along the side of the road to enforce the speed limit.

Again, Welcome to Hess Lake.
